Creating Content

Content for the OmniGlobe can easily be created for museums, institutions or corporations using conventional software tools such as (Adobe PhotoShop®, Adobe AfterEffects®, Apple Final Cut Pro®, etc.) and ARC software to project the imagery with the correct geometry. Images need to be created as equatorial cylindrical equidistant projections (also called platte carre or Lat/Lon grid). This is basically just a 2:1 aspect ratio, high resolution GIFF, TIFF or PNG file. ARC's recommended image size for the dual projector OmniGlobe is 3000 x 1500 pixels, and 2400 x 1200 for the single projector systems.

Effective content can be as simple as conventional global images (i.e. maps) but can also be creative images such as artwork, 3D visualizations, banners, logos, graphics, movies, etc. Animations are just a series of images numbered sequentially.

When used with ARC's OmniExplorer™ software, which both re-projects with the correct geometry and provides interactive manipulation of the global image, almost anything is possible.

ARC Science Simulations can provide base imagery for content creators, or create the exhibit content for you. Standard imagery included with the OmniGlobe® includes:

• The Natural Earth, a rotating, photorealistic, cloudy earth movie using ARC's own Face of the Earth™ imagery.

ARC can also commission original art or create data derived images for custom content.
